Artist BIO

Colyn Major was destined to sing. He came from a family of seven (six boys and one girl) and began singing at an early age (2-3) during morning and evening family worship with his parents and siblings.

At age three and –a- half Colyn was in a near fatal car accident near a popular beach in The Bahamas when he was struck down by a sports car. He was hospitalized and was in a coma for two-weeks. He lost his voice. Family and church members prayed and fasted around the clock. After 2-3 days Colyn opened his eyes, looked into the face of his tearful mother and said: “Mommy, I could sing.” He sang her one of his favorited choruses and he’s been singing ever since. He has a soothing baritone voice that calms the souls and minds of the listeners and is grateful for the opportunities God has afforded his ministry.

A native of the Caribbean, Colyn Major is an Independent Recording Artist with an active music ministry. His style can be described as Inspirational-Contemporary Christian Music, with selections varying in style, from the meditative-reflective to the soulful. As an Independent Artist, Colyn is free from having to conform to worldly images for the purpose of advertising and sales and has creative freedom when it comes to song selection and production.

Ask Colyn Major what he loves about his music and ministry and the answer is as comforting and insightful as his songs. ‘The music uplifts and energizes,” he enthuses, “I truly believe that my songs bring hope and encouragement to the listener and inspire them to reach upward, forward, and onward toward their true potential. They do more than just create an emotional experience. My music, at its core, is inspiring.’

To His Credit Colyn Has Nine Solo Albums

In 2007 his debut solo album releases include: “His Kingdom First”, “Made In Your Image” And “We Are Restored” .In 2009 Colyn released his fourth album entitled “Hymns Etc.” which was a collection of familiar hymns and contemporary songs. In the fall of 2017 Colyn released four new albums:, ”CHRIST REMAINS”, “THE LAMB FOUND ME”, “REKINDLE THE ROMANCE”, and “SONGS OF CHRISTMAS”. In September of 2018, Colyn released his second hymns album: Hymns for The Soul which he dedicated to his Parents.

A 2014 Caribbean Marlin Award winner, Colyn’s singles: “Peace In The Streets”, “He Is Your Hope”, and “The Cross-The Cross” were nominated for Marlin Awards during that year. He received a Marlin Award for his rendition of the traditional hymn “I Surrender All”.

Colyn’s love of singing and sharing his gift with the world keeps him in the studio. He continues to record and produce great inspirational music. He is currently working on his latest project: an album release of his original songs and compositions.

Colyn is the father of one son, Devin and is supported in his music ministry by his lovely wife, the former Linda E. Woodside.
